Attitude and Weight
Loss
99 Ways Newsletter
Many weight loss specialists
will tell you that attitude has a more powerful effect on losing
weight than all the other factors. They may be right. The best
plan out there won't cut it, if you don't follow it, and that
can be a matter of attitude. Here are some tips to help:
1. Don't dwell on "failures."
Tell yourself, "This setback is temporary - here's what
I'll do differently next time.
2. See setbacks as opportunities
to learn how to do it better, and so as steps towards success.
3. Get in the habit of thinking
in terms of solutions, not problems. "I have the hardest
time resisting temptation," becomes, "When have I resisted,
and what can I learn from that?"
4. Watch for success, both your
own and other's. Seeing even a little progress reminds you that
it is possible, and keeps you motivated. This is a really powerful
way to stay on track.
5. Imagine yourself how you want
to be, and do this often.
6. Do something. Anything. Action
often precedes attitude and motivation. Read something helpful,
eat some healthy snacks, get out and take a walk, or do anything,
however small, towards your weight loss goals. There is a momentum
created by taking a step in the right direction.

Quick Weight Loss Tips
You'll find this section in each
newsletter. The idea here is that there are many small changes
you can make to help you lose weight. Make changes that are right
for you, and maybe, with enough of them, you'll lose weight even
without a "plan" or "program." In any case,
they can help no matter what plan you use. Today's weight loss
tips:
1. Don't shop hungry. This is
a sure way to save money, but also keeps you from filling the
cupboards with unhealthy snack foods. Eat before you shop.
2. Change your salad dressing
from the creamy ones to a simple oil-and-vinegar one, and you'll
cut out more than half of the calories of your salad.
3. If you have a lot of cravings,
try taking a multi-vitamin supplement for a few weeks, to see
if that helps. Sometimes cravings are a result of a deficiency
of some sort.
Bye now,
Steve
